DORIS LIDTKE, Professor Emerita, Towson University

The SIGCAS Outstanding Service Award is presented annually to a SIGCAS member for outstanding service to SIGCAS in carrying out responsibilities that foster the viability of SIGCAS and enable it to continue to make a contribution to the field of computing in the context of its stated mission.

The 2004 award went to Professor Emerita Doris Lidtke, who is widely recognized as a founding member and Past Chair of SIGCAS and an educational leader in ethics and the social impact of computing. Her award was presented by Kelly Gotlieb, Chair of the ACM Awards Committee, at a committee meeting that was also attended by CEO John White and COO Pat Ryan.
